Claire & Elliott's Spring Wedding at The Parlour - Sarah Metcalf Photography

Claire & Elliott's Spring Wedding at The Parlour - Sarah Metcalf Photography

Claire and Elliott’s beautiful spring wedding was just amazing and I’m excited to share some of my favourite images from this very special day! They had their wedding ceremony at St John’s in Killingworth which is surrounded by woodland, filled with beautiful trees and lots of daffodils and bluebells. After a heartfelt ceremony witnessed by their nearest and dearest, and one of the longest, most enthusiastic confetti lines I’ve ever seen, the guests were whisked off in a vintage double decker bus to an exciting reception at The Parlour at Blagdon.

The Parlour is fast becoming one of my favourite venues to shoot. I love how they’ve opened up the outdoor space with the canopy, it’s intimate without feeling small and it’s the perfect size for guests to mingle and move freely without feeling too separated. From a photographic point of view, there are so many beautiful spots in and around the grounds to take portraits, I’ve had the pleasure of shooting several weddings here now and they’ve all felt unique and special!

I loved every one of Claire and Elliotts wedding details; gorgeous white and pink roses, bright pink bridesmaid dresses complimented with cornflower blue tie for the groom. Hand drawn illustrations and names of fells for the table centrepieces, pink silk chair wraps, and a classically perfect three tier wedding cake with floral details.

After their wedding breaktfast, the evening reception brought a new lease of life with more friends, Claire’s bouquet toss, toasted marshmallows and s’mores around the fire pits, cocktails and a dance floor so bouncing that every time I was about to pack up and go home, something exciting would happen and I’d find myself staying for another song!

Tracey & Paul - Spanish City Wedding Photography

I had so much fun photographing Tracey & Paul’s wedding! They had a beautiful, intimate ceremony with close family at North Shields Registry Office. Once they’d tied the knot we headed out into the sunshine for some confetti fun and group photos on the terrace, making the most of the stunning views of the river Tyne! Then it was time for The Conga!!? I had an absolute blast photographing this lot dancing around the registry office, soundtracked by Gloria Estefan of course.

After that it was time to head to Spanish City in Whitley Bay, where everyone headed into Trenchers for a well earned drink while I took the newlyweds for a little wander and a few portraits. We got some stunning shots on the steps at the dome and a little further along the promenade with views of St Mary’s and Spanish City in the background. On our way back to join the other guests for fish & chips and champagne, Tracey & Paul thought they’d hop on the carousel for a couple of photos too! Such an absolute pleasure as always to photograph such love and joy in this beautiful place I call home, and honoured for such a lovely couple to put their trust in me to capture their special day for them. Thanks so much Tracey & Paul <3

Nicky & Paul - Surprise Wedding at North Tyneside Registry Office Wedding Photography

Nicky & Paul had a truly special day when they tied the knot at North Tyneside Registry Office in North Shields. They had kept their plan to wed a complete secret from their unsuspecting family, who thought they were just in Whitley Bay to enjoy a family holiday, but Nicky and Paul surprised everyone with the news that they were actually all there to celebrate their wedding! They’d planned absolutely everything from outfits and accessories for everyone to an amazing wedding cake and celebrations at How Do You Do in North Shields.

After an intimate ceremony with the wonderful registrars at the Maritime Chambers, I whisked the new Mr & Mrs off for some photos around North Shields Fish Quay. I’ve come to know this area really well and we didn’t have to go too far to find some pretty special backdrops. I love this part of the day because it gives the couple a chance to be alone and enjoy the moment, the wedding day can go so quickly so this time is precious!

We got some gorgeous images down by the beach with Herd Groin and The Port of Tyne in the distance. Nicky & Paul were total superstars, so loved up and full of joy!

If you’re looking for a photographer to capture your special day, I’d love to hear from you! Get in touch here.

The Parlour at Blagdon Wedding Photography, Rachael & Jonathan October 2020

Rachael & Jonathan's beautiful, intimate wedding at The Parlour at Blagdon a few weeks ago was such a pleasure to be a part of 💛

As well as the government restrictions and social distancing, it didn't stop raining for the entire day! Not even for a minute! But despite the challenges they managed to pull off an amazing day filled with happiness shared by close family and friends, delicious food and drink from The Parlour, and endless personal touches that made their special day truly theirs. Everything was handmade by the couple, including stunning illustrations by Jonathan for the centrepieces.

Hexham House and Tynemouth Beach Wedding Photography - Sarah Metcalf Photography

Hexham House and Tynemouth Beach Wedding Photography - Sarah Metcalf Photography

I’m very excited to share some more photos from Philip and Sarah’s amazing wedding day in September! Their amazing micro-wedding has convinced me that anything is possible, and even the smallest, stripped back weddings can be an absolute dream!

They had their ceremony at Hexham House, which is such a beautiful venue. It has endless photogenic spots amongst the flowers and sweeping lawns which made socially distanced group photos a cinch! Next up was a trip to Tynemouth for some stunning coastal shots with the newlyweds. Philip & Sarah were originally planning to have their reception in Whitley Bay, but due to restrictions, they were planning instead to have a zoom party with their guests later that day! So we had a walk down to King Eddie’s Bay and climbed along the rocks (Sarah is my hero for doing this in her wedding dress), and we made the most of the gorgeous weather, blue sea and skies.

These two were the happiest couple ever! Even despite the restrictions, they didn’t stop smiling and laughing all afternoon. I know it wasn’t the wedding they hoped and planned for, but it was amazing to see everyone take it in their stride and these photos are proof that this was one very, very happy couple!

St Mary's Cathedral and St Mary's Heritage Centre, Newcastle Wedding - Libby and James 21/9/19

Mr & Mrs Perry ♥️ 21/9/19

Libby and James had a beautiful day filled with sunshine, friends and family! Their ceremony was at the stunning St Mary’s Cathedral in Newcastle City Centre. I was really excited to shoot here; one of my best friends got married here a couple of years ago when I was bridesmaid for her, and it really is an incredible building with beautiful architecture, so I knew it was going to be an amazing backdrop for Libby and James.

St Mary’s Heritage Centre was the venue for the their wedding reception. It’s one of Gateshead’s hidden gems and can be found just beside The Sage. It’s a fantastic building for a wedding with amazing high ceilings and an unbelievable view of the Tyne Bridge.

This was a fantastic wedding to shoot - I loved working in new, challenging venues and finding creative ways to capture the day. And on such a stunning day in September, the conditions were perfect!

Congratulations again to Mr and Mrs Perry!

With a busy month of weddings coming up this May I’m looking back at my first wedding of the year in March, when Lesley and Barry said “I do” with an intimate wedding ceremony at As You Like It. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing a previous wedding party at this amazing venue, so it was great to be back! I just love that the whole place is covered in fairy lights, and the terrace bar provided a stunning backdrop for some group photos with the happy couple and their families.

My first wedding of the year is fast approaching, which I'm delighted to say will be at As You Like It in Jesmond. I had the pleasure of photographing the wonderful Mr and Mrs Ward there last July. It's a really unique wedding venue full of character and makes for fantastic photos!

Rebecca & Luke Hallinan, Storthes Hall Wedding, 26/08/18

Mr & Mrs Hallinan 💗

This was a really special wedding for me to photograph because Rebecca has been a close family friend of mine for a very long time so it meant a lot to me to be a part of their big day. Rebecca and Luke said 'I do' at their local church in Halifax, followed by a stunning reception at Storthes Hall Park - The Venue in Huddersfield with lots of friends and family. It was such a brilliant day with an delicious two tier battenburg and carrot wedding cake made by Emma, Becca's sister! Flowers arranged by their Aunty Linda, and excellent music performed by North Road, who took "audience participation" well in their stride! (Microphone hi-jacking and 2-year old tambourine players 😂)
